Please Note: Trumpet Resources is currently undergoing a “facelift” that I am doing myself. If you are a subscriber to any of the courses and cannot access them any longer, please email me directly and I will remedy the issue! I appreciate everyone’s patience… after all, I’m a trumpet geek… not a website builder.

Tip #1 – Lip Flexibility
Hey Guys & Gals,
One term that tends to drive me crazy is “lip flexibility.” As I practice more in the right manner, I realize that the lips have FAR less to do with flexibility and playing than what we’re initially taught by a large majority of teachers and band directors. Keeping the lips more relaxed and pliable is far more important than to tighten them and loosen them (ooh, notice I spelled loosen correctly) to go up / down and get around the horn.
This weeks first tip is for you to really pay close attention to the use of air and try to keep the lips relaxed enough and pushed forward (in many cases) vs. pulled back and rolled in away from the mouthpiece. I tried the rolling in thing for a long time and struggled endlessly… here’s where I make a disclaimer about the rolling in / pushing out! This is not a blanket statement that EVERYONE should push the lips toward the cup (out), because I have met a few players that roll in successfully. I’m am NOT one of them… What I am saying is that if you’ve been trying to roll in and not finding much success with it, keep an open mind and try going opposite.
Tip #2 – Video From the Past
While working on the website this past week, I ran across some older weekly tips videos… wanted to share this one with you once again. I now own all of these horns.
Have a GREAT week!
