I just discovered this website tonight.(April 2,2011). It's been really good and interesting to read about the challenges and problems faced by trumpet players. I'm 54 years old, and about 3 years ago I inherited my father-in-laws trumpet, and began to learn the instrument again. I had played one for one year back in junior high school in a small music class, not the main school band. I am primarily an accordion, piano and tenor sax player. Playing a wood wind instr. all these years with the different mouthpiece can present challenges in itself when adapting to a brass instrument, but basically my main issues with trumpet come down to two things right now, lack of physical endurance and an embouchure that tends to be inconsistent and give out on me within minutes.
